The museum, founded by Karel Bos and Danny Cabooter, is run on a voluntary basis. A crew of volunteers is responsible for the maintenance of the museum, its collection and aircraft, but also for receiving and guiding the public and answering their questions.
The museum consists of a statics section and a flying part. The aircraft stored in the latter are visible from within the 'den Atelier'.
Besides some SV-4 and WWI replica aircraft which are on display and can be photographed by the visitor, the museum also tells you the story of aviation in the Antwerp region: starting back in 1909 with the first flying week at the 'Wilrijckse Plein' and ending with the present day situation.
The volunteers are also responsible for the yearly Stampe Fly-in which is organised during the weekend following Ascension.
During the year, we spend our Wednesday evenings (7pm-9pm) at the museum while carrying out some tasks or maintenance works.
Care to give us a helping hand?
Come and meet us next Wednesday between 7pm and 9pm.
