Fokker D.VII (N902AC)
Used during filming of ''The Blue Max''
The Fokker D.VII is also a german plane that was used during World War I. Construction started during 1918 and it was to replace the Albatros D.Va. Near the end of the war there were about 700 examples of the D.VII active. The allies were very interested in this aircraft and they were all confiscated.
The first aircraft that was registered on the Belgian Civil Aircraft Register was a Fokker D.VII (O-BEBE).
Even Jean Stampe used the Fokker D.VII. He had three D.VII's that were used for pilot-training before he started the construction of his own planes. Our example was constructed by Rousseau Aviation in France for use in the movie 'The Blue Max'. It was registered in France as F-BNDF. After the fiming was finished, it was sold in Ireland and registered as EI-APV.
There it got damaged during a landing accident and was sold in the USA.When in 2000 it returned to Europe, it was still in unairworthy condition. So we decided to give it a thorough restoration and repaint it in a belgian coloursscheme.
This restoration is now nearly finished and we hope to see it in the air again soon. The aircraft is fitted with a 205hp Gipsy Queen.
