Fokker D.VIII (N111EV)
Built by R & V Arganbright
The Fokker D.VIII was an improved version of the Fokker E.V. It became active near the end of the war and so there was only a small number of them active. They were used as fighter aircraft, but also for reconnaissance surveys.
This replica is built using original plans and is fitted with a 220hp Continental W-670 engine. For many years, this replica was part of the Ryder's Replica Fighter museum in Alabama. During 2000 it came over to Europe and ever since it's part of our collection.
During the summer of 2002 it was damaged in a landing accident. But it was repaired and flew again during november 2005. During this repair it was also repainted in a green coloursscheme to represent a D.VIII that flew during the Olympic games of 1920 at Antwerp.
