Fokker DR.I Triplane (PH-EBF)
On loan from the Early Birds Foundation (NL)
There were about 322 examples of the DR.I built and the most famous pilot that flew a DR.I was without a doubt Manfred Von Richthofen (The Red Baron). During 1918 the construction was seized and the aircraft was replaced by the Fokker D.VII
Since 2004, this aircraft is on loan from the Early Birds Foundation at Lelystad. It is a replica that was built in the USA using original plans. It is fitted with a 165hp Warner engine and was registered as N5505V. During 1993 it came to Europe. It was based at Lelystad, but did not fly very often and was mostly stored in the museum hangar.

Even though it arrived at Antwerp by truck, this aircraft is fully airworthy. It already made a local flight in the hands of Danny Cabooter, the museum president.
