18/08/2008 - Stampe SV.4 V28 joins the Stampe Museum collection
For the last two years, the museum management talked with the Brussels Air Museum about a possible loan of the Stampe SV.4B V28. This move would bring the original ‘Les Manchots’ duo back together. The other aircraft, V18 is already part of the museum, as OO-GWD, since it’s opening now more than five years ago.
V28 was dismantled and stored at the museum storage facility at Vissenaken sinde the last two years. Conditions are not optimal at this location and the Stampe museum can offer a place in the heated museum building.
On 18 August a team of volunteers from the museum, headed by Raymond Cuypers went to Vissenaken to collect this airframe. The fuselage was transported on Raymond’s ‘aircrafttransporter’.
The four wings followed on a second trailer. With a lot of ‘interested people’ along the route, the trip went to Antwerp Airport via Aarschot and Lier. The aircraft is now in the workshop of the Stampe Museum.
Museumdirector Paul Soons will certainly make a timetable to clean the aircraft and, possibly do some minor repairs before it can you on display together with V18.For more photos click here
